Kindergarten Registration: The EGRPS website regarding kindergarten registration information has been updated. Intent to enroll forms will be available beginning January 29th. The link to the page can be found here. Ms. Jackie will be sharing preschool enrollment information for the 2021-22 school year soon!
Warm Clothing: Please continue to send your child's winter/snow gear in their canvas bag each day. Please double check that their bag contains their snow pants, boots, coat, hat, and mittens. Many items look similar, so please label your child's coat, snow pants, boots, hat, and gloves/mittens. We go outside daily as long as it is not raining, the wind chill is above zero, and the playground is not too muddy/icy.
School Shoes/Slippers: If you have a pair of school shoes or hard bottom slippers that you would like to keep at school, let me know and we can keep them at school to avoid having to lug them back and forth each day.
T/Th 3's Class:
This week, we learned all about bears and hibernation! We looked at pictures of different bears, learned what they eat, and discussed why it might be hard for them to find food in the winter. During circle time, we used bears to act out bears hibernating and waking up in the spring in the song "Sleepy Bears" and moved like different arctic animals. We also learned about the letter M and opposites, and sorted things that are hot and cold. On Tuesday, we painted polar bears, played a counting and visual discrimination bear game, and built dens for our bears to hibernate in. On Thursday, we turned our handprints into monsters for our letter books, built patterns with bears, and practiced counting and strengthening our pincer grasp with tweezers! We also had lots of fun playing outside in the snow and playing with the parachute with Ms. Janet! Here are lots of great pictures from our week in 3's:
PM 5's Class:
This week, we learned about Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and also focused on celebrating our differences. We learned that Dr. Martin Luther King had a dream of a word where all people were treated equally and with kindness. We came up with our own dreams of how to make the world a better place. We also discussed how it does not matter what people look like, where they are from, or if they have different interests/abilities/beliefs than us, but that what matters is that we are all special people on the inside deserving of kindness and respect. During circle time, we compared a brown egg and white egg. We noticed that while they were different colors and sizes, they both felt the same when we touched them. After cracking them open, we noticed that they looked exactly the same on the inside! We talked about how people are kind of like the eggs: we all look different on the outside but we all are people who deserve kindness and respect on in the inside. Here are some highlights from the week:
