Important Dates/Reminders:
New Mask Policy: Starting on Monday (4/26), we are asking that all preschool/childcare students come to school wearing a face mask. The Health Department mandated that early childhood childcare centers must make a "good faith effort" in having students two and older wear face masks in classrooms and shared spaces. Please label your child's mask with their name/initials and consider attaching their mask to a lanyard to help avoid loss and mix-ups. If your child attends all day, please consider sending more than one mask as they can sometimes get wet, dirty, etc. We understand this may be a big adjustment for many of our friends, and we will do our best to support them with this big change and provide mask breaks if needed.
Camp East Registration: If you are interested in having your child attend Camp East this summer, registration is now open. Please see go here for more information on Camp East, the fun experiences/field trips offered, and the link to register.
Hearing/Vision Screenings: The Kent County Health Department will be at WECC on April 26-29 to conduct vision and hearing screenings. I will send home the results in your child's folder following the screenings. You will want to keep the results to submit with Kindergarten enrollment paperwork.
Memorial Day: WECC will be closed Monday, May 31st in observance of Memorial Day.
Last Day of School: The last day of school for both T/Th 3's and PM 5's will be Thursday, June 3rd.
T/Th 3's Class:
This week, we learned how to be Earth heroes and how to take care of our planet! We celebrated Earth Day by learning about planet Earth and ways to protect our home. We also learned about the three R's: what it means to recycle, reduce, and reuse. During center time, we created recycled art, played in a earth sensory bin, sorted colors with recycling trucks at the "recycling plant," painted the earth, and wrote about how we could save the earth. This week, we learned about the letter Y, met the Zoo Phonics character Yancy Yak, and painted our handprints like yaks for our letter books. We ended the week reading about the superhero "Michael Recycle" with an awards ceremony to celebrate all of our own Earth Heroes! Here are some picture highlights from our week in 3's:
This week, we learned about planet earth and how we can take care of our home! We learned about the 3 R's (reduce, reuse, and recycle) and how we can do the 3 R's in our daily life. We took a virtual field trip of a recycling plant and learned about the many things that can be recycled! During center time, we created recycled art, played in an earth sensory bin, revealed mystery pictures while practicing letter recognition, practiced scissor skills, painted the earth, wrote about how we can save the earth, and sorted things we can reduce, reuse and recycle. We also have a new spring cleaning set up in our dramatic center, and it was a huge hit! We learned about the -ap word family this week and went on an -ap word family hunt in our classroom. On Earth Day, we learned about the history of earth day, met Michael Recycle, and celebrated being Earth Heroes. Here are some pictures from our week in 5's:
Have a great weekend!
