Important Dates/Reminders:
No School: There are no preschool classes on Friday, September 3rd and Monday, September 6th for Labor Day weekend.
MWF 3's:
This week, we read the story Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See? and practiced colors, sorting, retelling a story, and identifying things that are same and different. We learned about brown bears, where they live, what they eat, and watched a live feed of brown bears in the wild! During small group center time, we played Brown Bear bingo, created sensory brown bear paintings with bubble wrap, decorated our names with rainbow colors, sequenced the animals in Brown Bear and sorted bears by color! We also created our own class version of Brown Bear called Preschoolers, Preschoolers What Do You See? Each friend will have a turn to bring our class book home to share with their family! On Wednesday, we had our first music class with Ms. Janet! We loved singing and dancing along with her, as well as getting to play the sticks, "talking drum" and trying out her guitar! We enjoyed lots of outside time with the beautiful weather this week too! Next week, we will read several Pete the Cat books and continue to focus on colors and learning our classroom routines! PM 5's:
This week we focused on learning more about ourselves and each other! We discussed how differences make us special, the importance of having confidence in who we are, and how different people have different interests and preferences. We learned the Mat Man song and worked together to build Mat Man. The Mat Man song helps teach body awareness and how to draw a person. You can listen to the Mat Man song here. We have also been playing games like Simon Says and Charades to practice listening carefully to directions and waiting our turn. During center time, we practiced drawing Mat Man, created "All About Me" books, built people out of playdough, decorated our names, practiced cutting, created collages with our colorful cutting pieces, and examined our unique fingerprints. On Wednesday, we also had our first biweekly music class with Ms. Janet! Next week, we are going to read Chicka Chicka Boom Boom, focus on the letters in our names, and work on proper pencil grasp.
