Important Dates/Reminders:
Scholastic Book Orders: Last week, I sent home Scholastic book order fliers in your child's folder. You can order books by completing the order forms on the flier and returning to me or online by completing the steps below. There is a larger selection of books online to choose from than in the flier. Due to supply chain issues, shipping is taking much longer than usual so this will be the last book order before the holidays. Our last book order still hasn't arrived due to shipping delays.
- Go to the Scholastic Reading Club Website here.
- Click Connect to your Teacher and enter our class activation code: PJFBX.
- Then click to order from this month's flier. Our default flier is the "Early Childhood" flier; however, you may order from any of the fliers. You can view more details about each book and add them to your cart by clicking on them in the flier.
- After selecting your items, click on the cart to create an account or sign-in to your existing account in order to check-out. Holiday orders need to be placed by tomorrow Friday, November 5th to ensure delivery before winter break.
Kids Food Basket Drive: Starting Monday, November 8th, we will be collecting items for Kid's Food Basket. Kid's Food Basket is a wonderful organization that works to fight food insecurity for children in Kent, Allegan and Muskegon counties. We appreciate your help in ensuring kids get the nutrition they need! We will be collecting the following items through the remainder of November:
- Fruit cups or pouches
- Pudding cups
- Meat sticks (i.e. Slim Jims)
- 8lbs. or XL brown lunch bags
Thanksgiving Break: There are no preschool classes Wednesday, November 24th through Friday, November 26th for Thanksgiving Break.
T/Th 3's Class:
This week, we learned about the letter G, learned the sign for the letter G, and turned our handprints into giraffes for our letter book portfolios. We also learned how we can use our whole bodies to be good listeners. We use our ears to hear, eyes to look at the speaker, our body is calm/faces the speaker, our hands and feet are still, our brain thinks, and our heart cares! We made "Mon-Star" listeners and played a "Match the Sounds" listening game. We built listening bodies with Mr. Potato Heads, read interactive books about listening, reviewed Mat Man and sorted what whole body listeners do and do not do. We even labeled the whole body listening parts of our own bodies. Next, we will learn about having helping hands and the letter H. Here are some picture highlights from our week in preschool:
PM 5's Class:
This week in 5's, we read several versions of the classic tale The Three Little Pigs. We learned about story elements like characters, setting, problem/solution, and cause/effect. One of the skills we work on is retelling a story with a beginning, middle and end. We made beginning, middle, and end flipbooks to retell the story of The Three Little Pigs. We also identified the beginning sounds of words, played a rhyming game, and blended together words to make compound words. On Thursday, we designed our own houses, and experimented to see if the "wind" would blow different classroom items. Next week, we will learn about the ocean, animals that live in the ocean and the letter O. Here are some picture highlights from out week in 5's:
Have a great weekend!
