Week One!

What a great first week! We had so much fun this week meeting news friends, exploring our classroom, learning new songs, reading lots of stories and practicing classroom routines. This week, we learned how to play with many of the toys in our classroom, played outside on the playground or in the sandbox, and made snack placemats that we will use throughout the year!

We read the following four stories this week to help with the transition from summer to preschool. In class, we talked about how it's okay to feel sad or miss someone while you're away at school, but that our loved ones will always come back! We even made "kissing hands" for loved ones that may miss us while we're away at school.

Next week, we will continue to learn more about our classroom, including how to be good helpers! We will begin our classroom jobs, and a few friends will bring home Webster/Payton (our classroom mascots) or the Mystery Backpack. If you bring home Webster/Payton or the Mystery Backpack, please return them on the last class day (Thursday or Friday) of the week for your child to share with the class during morning or closing circle!

We will also begin our first focus letter: the letter E! Many of our centers will be focused on writing the E, letter E sounds, and words that begin with the letter E. We will also continue our theme of "The Kissing Hand" and read more stories about Chester the Raccoon. By the end of the week, students can retell Chester stories with a Chester the Raccoon puppet!

I'm looking forward to another great week!

*Reminder: Home folders will go home on Thursdays with all students work from throughout the week. Please return your child's folder on the following Friday or Monday.
