This week, we enjoyed many Dr. Seuss classics in honor of his birthday on March 2nd! His books are known for his silly rhymes so we worked on identifying rhyming words. We loved dancing and singing along to rhyming songs like "Exercise, Rhyme and Freeze" and "Make a Rhyme, Make a Move." We also learned about the letter X and how there are few words that start with the letter X. In 5's, we also celebrated our 100th day of preschool on Thursday! Here are some picture highlights from our week in preschool:
After reading Fox in Socks, we made our own rhyming foxes!
We also wrote our own rhyming books and came up with the rhymes ourselves!
We made the letter X into a xylophone for our letter books!
We had a birthday party in our dramatic play area to celebrate Dr. Seuss' birthday on March 2nd!
We practiced cutting and matching rhyming words!
We conducted an experiment to see if things would sink or float in oobleck, and we got to play in this fun, slimy substance!
We made birthday hats to celebrate Dr. Seuss' birthday!
After reading The Cat in the Hat, we worked together to see what kind of structures we could build with 100 cups and 100 index cards.
We loved playing birthday party and singing Happy Birthday to each other!
