T/Th 3's Class:
This week, we really enjoyed the warmer temperatures and getting outside! It was so nice to see the sun and to be able to get out without all the snow gear :) This week, we learned all about rainbows! We learned about the colors of rainbow, why rainbows occur, and how colors can mix to make new colors. During Tuesday centers, we built patterns with skittles and experimented with mixing colors. During Thursday centers, we used foam sensory paint to paint our own rainbows, conducted a rainbow paper towel experiment, and strengthened our little muscles in our hands sorting color beads on a rainbow. We also learned about the letter T and turned our handprints into a T for our letter books! Next week, we will continue our rainbow/color exploration and learn about the letter U. Here are some picture highlights from our week in 3's:
PM 5's Class:
This week, we learned all about rainbows and why the occur. We even created a rainbow in our classroom using a prism and a flashlight! We learned about primary colors, secondary colors, and how to make new colors by mixing colors. We are also working on learning to read and recognize color words. We learned the order of the colors in the rainbow and matched the color words to them. During centers, we extended rainbow patterns, painted rainbow fish, experimented with mixing colors, practiced rainbow addition, and played a color word/number recognition dice game. We also learned about the letters Y and Z, and created a Yak and Zebra for our letter books. On Monday, we will be celebrating our 100th day of school! All week long, we will be engaging in lots of fun learning activities centered around the number 100. We will also be learning about the letter I and distinguishing between vowels and consonants.
