2021-22 WECC Enrollment: Enrollment for next year, for current families, ends today (Friday, March 5). Open enrollment for new families will begin the week of March 15th. Ms. Jackie sent out an email with specific enrollment information. You can also check out our virtual open house here to get a peek inside our school.
Spring Break: There will be no preschool classes Friday, April 2nd through Friday, April 9th for Spring Break. Classes will resume Monday, April 12th.
Kindergarten Registration: The EGRPS website regarding kindergarten registration information has been updated. Intent to enroll forms are now available. The link to the page can be found here. Please let me know if you plan on enrolling your child and would like me to fill out a Preschool Teacher form for you!
Warm Clothing: Despite warmer temperatures, please continue to send your child's winter/snow gear in their canvas bag each day. Please double check that their bag contains their snow pants, boots, coat, hat, and mittens. Many items look similar, so please label your child's coat, snow pants, boots, hat, and gloves/mittens. We try to go outside daily as long as it is not raining, the wind chill is above zero, and the playground is not too wet/muddy/icy. If you have a pair of school shoes or hard bottom slippers that you would like to keep at school, let me know and we can keep them at school to avoid having to lug them back and forth each day.
T/Th 3's Class:
This week, we concluded our community helpers unit by learning about builders and fixers in our community! We specifically learned about construction workers, carpenters, mechanics, and plumbers. We learned about specific tools that builders and fixers use and played a memory game with them at circle time. During centers, we made our own tool belts, built letters out of wood sticks, practiced counting by hammering in "nails," sorted tools from other objects, and played with construction trucks in the sand table. We also learned about the letter S and made our handprint into spiders! We also were excited to learn more about what chefs do with a special virtual visit with Ms. Emerson's dad who is a chef! We had lots of fun singing and dancing with Ms. Janet, and really enjoyed getting some wiggles out to silly songs like the "Tooty Ta." Here are some picture highlights from our week in 3's:
PM 5's Class:
This week, we really enjoyed cooking with books and learning about the five important food groups (fruit, vegetables, dairy, protein, and grains). On Monday, we read Dragons Love Tacos and assembled our own tacos using ingredients from all five food groups! On Tuesday, we read If You Give a Mouse a Cookie and worked together to bake chocolate chip cookies. We learned about the parts of a recipe and how to follow a recipe carefully when baking. On Wednesday, we read Stone Soup and created our own "stone soup" creations. On Thursday, we read Bunny Cakes and enjoyed pancakes together! This week, we also discussed the importance of making healthy food choices in giving our bodies energy and helping us grow. We also learned about the letters W and X, and added more pages to our letter books! Next week, we will learn about the letters Y and Z and learn all about colors and rainbows!
