5/14 Classroom Update

Important Dates/Reminders:

Mask Policy: Our friends have been doing a great job wearing and keeping track of their masks in class! Please label your child's mask with their name/initials and consider attaching their mask to a lanyard to help avoid loss and mix-ups. Please consider sending more than one mask as they can sometimes get wet, dirty, etc. We understand this may be a big adjustment for many of our friends, and we will do our best to support them with this big change and provide mask breaks if needed.

Memorial Day: WECC will be closed Monday, May 31st in observance of Memorial Day.

Field Day: Weather permitting, we will have a field day on Tuesday, June 1st! If the weather is warm enough, we will also have some water activities. Please come to school ready to spend most of the preschool day outside. Also, please apply sunscreen before coming to school. More details to follow!

Last Day of School: The last day of school for both T/Th 3's and PM 5's will be Thursday, June 3rd. 

Summer Send-Off: We invite you to join us for a Summer Send-off Party for our preschool students on Thursday, June 3 from 10:45-11:15 for AM students and 2:30-3:00 for PM students. The send-off will include preschool students singing songs, led by our music teacher, Ms. Janet, and time to mingle with classmates and their families. Light refreshments will be provided, and the event will be held outdoors (weather permitting). 

T/Th 3's Class:

This week, we learned about farms! We had so much fun learning about different animals on the farm and the sounds they make. During circle time, we learned about different jobs that farmers do and acted them out in song. We also solved farm animal riddles and sorted rhyming words that rhymed with different farm animals. During center time, we sorted farm vs. zoo animals, observed our butterflies, practiced counting out seeds and picking berries. We read the story Ms. Wishy Washy's Farm and took our farm animals outside to get a bath! On Thursday, we let our butterflies go and a few even landed on us! PM 5's Class:

This week, we learned about farms! We learned about jobs on a farm, different farm animals, and things that grow on farms. We were able to spend lots of time outside with the beautiful weather too! We learned that sometimes when letters come together, they make a new sound! We focused on the digraphs ch, sh, and th and the sounds they make at the beginning of words. We also learned about the -ip word family and practiced building and reading words in the -ip word family. Next week, we will go camping in our classroom and learn about the -ot word family!
