PM 5's Class:
This week, we learned about spring and signs of spring in Michigan! On Monday, we took a nature walk around school to look for signs of spring and found a bird's nest in the gutter by Ms. Suzie's room! We discussed the many types of weather we can have during spring, learned about the water cycle and acted out different types of weather with a parachute. We learned about different spring events in Michigan like Tulip Time in Holland and the butterflies at Meijer Gardens. During center time, we painted tulips with forks, matched upper and lowercase letters with puzzles and a butterfly game, read about Spring together, went on sight word hunts, "planted" flowers based on their beginning sound and painted colorful spring flowers with recycled bottles. We also learned about the -an word family and built -an word family words with playdough. As we prepare for kindergarten next year, we will be working on lots of different social skills in the coming weeks. This week, we had lots of fun being silly and practicing when it is appropriate or not to be silly. Next week, we will learn about the -ap word family, learn about how to take care of our planet for Earth Day, and discuss personal space and space invaders! Here are some picture highlights from our week in 5's:
