Important Dates/Reminders
MWF 3's Class:
This week, we continued our exploration of rainbows and had lots of fun learning about and celebrating St. Patrick's Day! On Monday, we worked together to make a liquid rainbow. We were amazed to see how the colored liquids floated on top of each other to make a rainbow! We learned about some symbols and traditions of St. Patrick's Day, sang a song about the color green, and planned what we would do with a pot of gold if we caught a leprechaun! On Friday, we went on a leprechaun hunt around the building! We also built rainbow models and made rainbow bracelets to strengthen our fine motor skills. During center time, we worked on number recognition by building shamrock towers. We practiced listening for rhyming words and solved rhyming riddles together. We also learned about the letter U this week and turned our handprints into umbrellas. Next week, we will learn about the letter V and begin talking about Spring! Let's hope we finally start to get some Spring weather to go with it :) Here are some picture highlights from our week in 3's:
PM 5's Class:
This week, we celebrated our 100th day of preschool and St. Patrick's Day! We reflected on how we have learned and grown so far in the last 100 days of school. We worked on counting to 100 by singing counting songs, counting out 100 pieces of snack to make a special snack mix, played a Roll to 100 math game, and strung necklaces with 100 fruit loops. We had fun imagining what we will look like when we're 100 years old and answering questions about the number 100. We also completed STEM challenges to see what we could build with 100 legos, 100 blocks, 100 snap cubes and 100 cups and index cards. Later in the week, we learned about many of the symbols of St Patrick's Day, discussed how people celebrate, and read lots of fun leprechaun stories. On Thursday, we built leprechaun traps to bring home with us to see if we could catch a leprechaun at home! We also learned about the letter I, discussed what makes a vowel, and practiced sorting vowels and consonants. We got a big kick out of singing "Apples and Bananas" and changing the vowel sounds ian words. Next week, we will learn about what makes a community and different types of communities. We have now finished focusing on each of the letters and will begin learning about word families next week! Here are some picture highlights from our week in 5's:
