MWF 3's:
This week, we continued our exploration of colors - particularly colors we see in the Fall! We talked about how Autumn leaves change colors in the fall and named the different colors they can be. We sorted leaves by color, read lots of books about fall and danced with leaves along to an autumn leaves song! We also talked about signs of fall and went on a fall scavenger hunt outside! We went on a leaf hunt outside to gather materials for a fun fall craft. During center time, we colored leaf rubbings and made leaf sensory paintings. We also enjoyed lots of outside time, making fall wreaths, playing in a fall sensory tub, practicing counting fall items and playing in our classroom Flower Shop. Next week, we will learn about apples and the letter A. Here are some picture highlights of our week in 3's:
PM 5's:
This week, we focused on how we can be a good friend both in and outside of school. We discussed the importance of kindness and what it means to be kind. We also learned about cotton ball and sandpaper words. Cotton ball words are kind words that feel good (ex. thank you, compliments, please, encouraging others, etc), while sandpaper words feel hurtful and can "scratch our feelings" (ex. mean words, a mean voice, calling names, yelling). Next week, we will continue to talk about ways to solve disagreements and problems using cotton ball words versus sandpaper words. We read the story "Have You Filled a Bucket Today?" and thought about how we can fill both our own and other's buckets. We met all of our Zoo Phonics animals this week, and learned the sounds and motions that go along with each letter. We sing "Who let the letters out?" to practice the letter sounds and motions. We also learned about circles and explored circles in our world and painting with circles. This week, our dramatic play area was transformed into a Flower Shop where preschoolers could make bouquets of flowers for each other and make cards! Here are some picture highlights from our week in 5's:
Have a great weekend!
