MWF 3's:
This week, we engaged in lots of Pete the Cat learning fun! We read several Pete the Cat stories, practiced identifying colors, and retelling. On Wednesday, we read Pete the Cat: I Love My White Shoes and retold the story together on the carpet and played a "Where is Pete hiding?" color recognition game. During center time, we decorated our own white shoes, practiced putting our shoes on and off independently, and played a Pete the Cat matching game. On Friday, we created a new class book about rocking in our own school shoes, engaged in some sensory play, practiced taking turns playing a Pete the Cat color game, and sequenced a Pete the Cat story. Look for our new class book to visit your home soon! On Friday, we also had our first music class with Lori! We had SO much fun dancing to the beat, playing new instruments, and singing familiar songs. Next week, we are going to be learning about signs of fall and will have our first gym class on Wednesday! Here are some picture highlights from our week in 3's:
PM 5's:
This week we focused on our names and the letters in our names! We read Chicka Chicka Boom Boom and had the letters in our name climb up the coconut tree! We also built our names out of playdough, sorted letters that are in/not in our names, measured our names with various classroom materials and used lines and curves to build the letters in our name. We matched letter stickers to letters on the coconut tree, and sent home the extra stickers in folders if friends would like to finish at home. We also have started practicing writing our names daily and using proper pencil/crayon grasp. Here is a helpful song about how to hold a crayon properly that we have been singing in class! This week, we were introduced to our Fine Motor Journals that we will be working on in class all year long. We decorated the colors during center time, and we can't wait to start using them daily to practice various skills next week during arrival time! I sent home a note in your child's folder about some of the skills that we will be working on in our fine motor journals in your child's folder. On Thursday, we made watercolor paintings to reveal a "magic" word (our names) and enjoyed lots of music and movement during our first music class with Ms. Lori! Next week, we are going to focus on what it means to be kind! Here are some picture highlights from our week in 5's:
Have a great weekend!
