2/28 Classroom Update

Happy Friday! This week, we learned about different modes of transportation and the forces push and pull. A push is a force that moves something away from our body, while a pull moves something towards our body. We identified how we use these forces in our classroom and our everyday lives. In 3's we also focused on the letter N, and in 5's we focused on the letter V. Here are some picture highlights from our week in preschool:

Building a train!

We read about different types of transportation and focused on recognizing the words "I can ride on a..."

We built ramps and tested how different ramps affected how far our cars would roll!

Table time with multiple modes of transportation toys!

Building a rocket ship with pattern blocks!

Playing at table time!

Making patterned name trains!

Working together to build a track and playing with trains on the carpet!

Designing our own dream cars after reading If I Build a Car!

Identifying the beginning sounds of different types of transportation!

Playing the sand blocks with Ms. Janet!

Matching the drivers to different types of transportation!

2/21 Classroom Update

I'm so happy to be back at Woodcliff with all of our preschool friends after a wonderful maternity leave with Baby Nathan! I am so appreciative of everyone's well wishes yesterday, and feeling the love from all our little ones made the transition much easier! Ms. Heather did such a phenomenal job taking such good care of our kiddos in my absence, and we are so lucky to have her here at Woodcliff. It was so fun to see all the ways our preschoolers have grown in the last few months, and I'm looking forward to a great rest of the year!

February is National Children's Dental Health month! This week, we focused on what we can do to take care of our teeth and promote good oral hygiene. We learned about the parts of our teeth, what to expect at the dentist, about different dental tools, and about good brushing habits. Here are some picture highlights from dental health week:

Painting sparkly, white teeth with toothbrushes!

Playing the counting game Race to Lose a Tooth!

Sorting foods that are good and bad for our teeth!

We read about healthy habits in oral and overall health. We practiced recognizing the sight words "I" and "can" and using picture clues to help us read.

We played a number recognition game called Roll a Cavity!

We soaked an egg in water, milk, and soda. We learned that it was much harder to brush and clean the egg in the soda than the other two eggs!

Important Dates/Reminders:
