2/24 Classroom Update

Important Dates/Reminders

Kindergarten Enrollment: The EGRPS website regarding kindergarten registration information has been updated. Intent to enroll forms are now available. The link to the page can be found here. Please let me know if you plan on enrolling your child and I will fill out a Preschool Teacher form for you! Intent to enroll forms are due next Wednesday, March 1st.

Scholastic Book Orders: I sent home book order fliers in your child's folder last week, and our next book order is also available online. This is a great opportunity to add books to your collection at home while also earning points to add more books to our classroom library. With a $25 order, you can pick a free $5 book with the code READS.
Preschool/Childcare Registration: Preschool and childcare registration for the 2023-24 school year begins this coming Monday, February 27. For more information on our offerings, you can view our brochure here

Spring Break: There will be no preschool classes from Friday, March 31 through Friday, April 7. Classes will resume on Monday, April 10.

MWF 3's Class

This week, we continued our community helpers unit by learning about food helpers. We learned about people that grow our food, cook our food, sell our food, and serve our food in restaurants. We had lots of fun learning about restaurants and playing in our new restaurant dramatic play center. We discussed the importance of being calm at a restaurant, how to use our manners, and what to do when it's hard to wait while at a restaurant. During centers, we matched the letters in our name on chef hats and followed recipes to build shape pizzas. We also learned about the letter R and turned our handprints into roosters. This morning, we also had lots of fun playing the drums and dancing with Ms. Lori. Next week, we will learn about construction helpers/vehicles and the letter S. Here are some picture highlights from our week in 3's:

PM 5's Class:

This week, we continued our transportation unit by learning more about air travel, water transportation, human powered transportation, and more! On Tuesday, we learned about different types of boats and what they are used for. During centers, we experimented to see how much weight the CS PRESCHOOL "cargo ship" could hold without sinking. We also worked on writing numbers 1-20, building transportation machines with pattern blocks, and turned the letter M into a mouse for our letter books. We also wrote in our Fine Motor Journals about our adventures over Mid-Winter Break - it was so fun to hear about all the fun everyone had! Next week, we will begin our nutrition unit to learn about the food groups and learn about the letters W and X. We will also begin planting in our amazing school tower garden, graciously provided by the EGRPS School Foundation. You can learn more about tower gardens here. Here are some picture highlights from our very short week in 5's:

Have a great weekend!
