2/26 Classroom Update

 Important Dates/Reminders:

2021-22 WECC Enrollment: Enrollment for next year, for current families, will begin this coming Monday, March 1 and end Friday, March 5. Open enrollment for new families will be the week of March 15th. Ms. Jackie sent out an email with specific enrollment information. You can check out our virtual open house here to get a peek inside our school.

Spring Break: There will be no preschool classes Friday, April 2nd through Friday, April 9th for Spring Break. Classes will resume Monday, April 12th.

Kindergarten Registration: The EGRPS website regarding kindergarten registration information has been updated. Intent to enroll forms are now available. The link to the page can be found here. Please let me know if you plan on enrolling your child and would like me to fill out a Preschool Teacher form for you!

Warm Clothing: Please continue to send your child's winter/snow gear in their canvas bag each day. Please double check that their bag contains their snow pants, boots, coat, hat, and mittens. Many items look similar, so please label your child's coat, snow pants, boots, hat, and gloves/mittens. We try to go outside daily as long as it is not raining, the wind chill is above zero, and the playground is not too wet/muddy/icy. If you have a pair of school shoes or hard bottom slippers that you would like to keep at school, let me know and we can keep them at school to avoid having to lug them back and forth each day.

T/Th 3's Class:

This week, we continued our community helpers unit by learning about food helpers. We learned about people that grow our food, cook our food, sell our food, and serve our food in restaurants. We had lots of fun learning about restaurants and playing in our new restaurant dramatic play center. The fire station is also still a big hit! During centers, we made alphabet soup, matched the letters in our name on chef hats, went on a grocery store letter hunt, and strengthened our fine motor skills while sorting seeds. We also learned about the letter R and turned our handprints into roosters. Next week, we will learn about construction helpers and the letter S. Here are some picture highlights from our week in 3's:

PM 5's Class:

This week, we concluded our transportation unit by learning more about air travel, water transportation, human powered transportation, and more! On Monday, we learned about the parts of an airplane and made our own airplanes. On Tuesday, we learned about boats and experimented with making our own boat designs to see how many coins they could hold without sinking. On Wednesday, we acted out different types of human powered transportation with our bodies while playing Red Light, Green Light and also worked on addition. On Thursday, we practiced distinguishing between letters and numbers and reviewed different modes of transportation. This week, we also learned about the letter V and painted flowers in a letter V vase for our letter books. Next week, we will begin our cooking unit and learn about the letters W and X. Have a great weekend!
