MWF 3's Class:

This week, we continued our community helpers unit by learning about food helpers. We learned about people that grow our food, cook our food, sell our food, and serve our food in restaurants. We had lots of fun learning about restaurants and playing in our new restaurant dramatic play center. We discussed the importance of being calm at a restaurant, how to use our manners, and what to do when it's hard to wait while at a restaurant. During centers, we made alphabet soup, matched the letters in our name on chef hats, went on a grocery store letter hunt, and created shape fire trucks. We also learned about the letter R and turned our handprints into roosters. Next week, we will learn about construction helpers/vehicles and the letter S. Here are some picture highlights from our week in 3's:

PM 5's Class:

This week, we concluded our transportation unit by learning more about air travel, water transportation, human powered transportation, and more! On Tuesday, we learned about different types of boats and what they are used for. We experimented with making our own boat designs out of foil to see how many coins they could hold without sinking. On Wednesday, we acted out different types of human powered transportation with our bodies while playing Red Light, Green Light in the classroom. On Thursday, we learned about how hot air balloons work and created our own hot air balloons. This week, we also learned about the letter V and painted flowers in a letter V vase for our letter books. During center time, we also worked on counting syllables in transportation words, writing numbers 1-20, and recognizing quantities and addition with a dice game. Next week, we will begin our cooking with books unit and learn about the letters W and X.
