3/1 Classroom Update

This week, we wrapped up our dental health theme and began our transportation theme! We also continued to learn about the letters W and X. We learned about the importance of brushing our teeth at least two times a day, as well as the importance of making healthy food and drink choices for our teeth. This was illustrated in an experiment we conducted by soaking eggs overnight in water versus coke. The eggs soaked in coke were permanently stained, even after trying to brush the stain off! Here are some picture highlights from the week:

We made the letter X into a xylophone for our letter books!

We practiced writing the letter X using the wet dry try method and in our Handwriting Without Tears books.

We played a math game called "Race to Lose a Tooth"!

We soaked eggs in water and coke overnight to see what would happen to the eggs. We learned that even after brushing the egg stained by coke with a toothbrush that we still could not get all the stain off!

We built tracks and played with our classroom trains!

We matched wheels to vehicles based on the beginning sounds of words!

We built ramps to see how they affected how far our cars would roll.

We practiced patterning when making name trains!

We practiced tracing letters and numbers with cars!

We read "I Can Make Healthy Choices" and practiced reading a book with a pattern. We also used the picture clues to help us read!

We used play dough to practice building numbers and teeth!
