10/28 Classroom Update

Important Dates/Reminders:

No School 10/29: There are no preschool classes on Friday, October 29th.

Scholastic Book Orders: This week, I sent home Scholastic book order fliers in your child's folder. You can order books by completing the order forms on the flier and returning to me or online by completing the steps below. There is a larger selection of books online to choose from than in the flier. Due to supply chain issues, shipping is taking much longer than usual so this will be the last book order before the holidays. Our last book order still hasn't arrived due to shipping delays.
  1. Go to the Scholastic Reading Club Website here.
  2. Click Connect to your Teacher and enter our class activation code: PJFBX.
  3. Then click to order from this month's flier. Our default flier is the "Early Childhood" flier; however, you may order from any of the fliers. You can view more details about each book and add them to your cart by clicking on them in the flier.
  4. After selecting your items, click on the cart to create an account or sign-in to your existing account in order to check-out. September/October orders need to be placed by Friday, November 12th.
School Pictures: Last week, I sent home your child's school picture proof cards to access your child's school pictures online. Please let me know if you would like to have your child's picture retaken this coming Wednesday, November 3rd.

Thanksgiving Break: There are no preschool classes Wednesday, November 24th through Friday, November 26th for Thanksgiving Break.

MWF 3's Class:

This week, we engaged in lots of Halloween fun! We also learned about the letter F. During circle time, we acted out the story The Little Old Lady Who Wasn't Afraid of Anything, sang the Five Little Pumpkins song, worked together to build Mat Man, and learned about spiders! We sing the Mat Man song to teach body awareness and to learn how to draw a person. You can find the Mat Man song here. During center time, we made Halloween witches brew counting stew, strengthened our fine motor skills with a spider sensory web, made our hands into a fish for our letter books, built shape jack-o-lanterns, reviewed emotions with pumpkin feelings playdough mats and created stained glass spider web hangings! Next week, we are going to focus on the letter G and how we use our whole bodies to listen. Here are some picture highlights from all our Halloween fun this week in 3's:

PM 5's Class:

This week in 5's, we also engaged in lots of Halloween learning fun! During circle time, we learned about spiders and how to sing The Itsy Bitsy Spider in Spanish. We also sang The 5 Little Pumpkins, Who Stole the Candy from the Trick or Treat Bag?, and other fun Halloween songs! We learned about different types of patterns, completed Halloween patterns, and learned about syllables, or "beats," in words. During center time, we made letters out of pumpkin playdough, built syllable towers in Halloween words, painted spiders, strengthened our fine motor skills at a spider web sensory station, practiced writing numbers and building numbers with candy corn, and followed spooky recipes to make witches brew! We reviewed the parts of Mat Man and built our own skeletons, and also made fun Halloween necklaces! We learned about the letter H, practiced writing the letter H, and turned the letter H into a horse for our letter books. Next week, we will focus on the letter C and read many versions of The Three Little Pigs. Here are some picture highlights from our week in 5's:
