MWF 3's Class:

This week, we read the story Snowmen at Night  and engaged in lots of winter learning fun! We painted melted snowmen with special "snow" paint and came up with our own theories as to what happened to our snowmen. We sequenced and acted out the steps to making snowmen and are looking forward to having more real snow to make real snowmen outside! We did work on rolling snowballs by trying to make snowmen with playdough! During center time, we put ourselves inside a snow globe, practiced counting by building snowman bodies with dotters, and created special surprises for loved ones. We sang lots of winter songs and holiday classics and really loved doing the gingerbread cookie dance. Be sure to check your child's backpack for some fun holiday surprises! PM 5's Class:

This week in 5's, we read several versions of (and sequels to) the classic story The Gingerbread Man. During circle time, we learned about ginger root and ginger spice, and learned how the root is turned into the spice. We also practiced retelling stories and learned the steps to making a gingerbread man. During center time, we sequenced the story of the gingerbread man, played gingerbread addition games, hunted around the room for gingerbread words, and worked in our classroom bakery/cookie shop. We also enjoyed making gingerbread men and houses with gingerbread play dough, and acted out the story of The Gingerbread Baby with the characters in our "snow" tub. We also matched gingerbread babies to their gingerbread houses based on their beginning sounds. The highlight of the week was decorating and eating our gingerbread men and other cookies. Our preschoolers worked really hard to create some fun holiday surprises for loved ones too!
