10/26 Update

This week, we read several versions of the classic story The Three Little Pigs. We talked about the characters in the story, the setting, and how stories usually have a problem and solution. We also enjoyed listening to The Three Little Piggies Rock Out - you can listen to it at home here! Here some picture highlights from the week:

We played a fun Pick a Pig game where we practiced letter and letter sound recognition!

We practiced writing the letter H and found lots of words that begin with the "h" sound!

We experimented to see what "The Big Bad Wolf" could blow down!

We had so much fun acting out the story of The Three Little Pigs in our dramatic play center!

Here comes the Big Bad Wolf!

We sequenced the story of the Three Little Pigs in order, and talked about what happened at the beginning, middle and end of the story!

We made the three houses from The Three Little Pigs!

We also wrote and drew about what we would build our houses from. We had very creative ideas!

10/19 Classroom Update

This week, we had so much fun learning about and exploring our 5 senses! We learned how important our senses are to exploring the world around us, learning, and keeping ourselves safe! We explored with different vision toys and played lots of games like guess that sound, guess that smell, and guess what's in the backpack using our sense of touch. Here are some picture highlights from our week in preschool:

We created Mr./Mrs. Potato Heads and identified his/her five senses!

We explored different vision toys like kaleidoscopes, magnifying glasses, prisms, and more!

We learned about the letter T and made turkeys for our letter books!

We read the classic Dr. Seuss story Horton Hears a Who and painted Horton listening to the speck!

At the smelling station, we smelled lots of different scents and tried to guess what they are!

On Wednesday, we had music class with Ms. Janet!

We sorted things based on the senses we use to explore them! This was tricky because we often use more than one sense at a time!

We explored different textures and how things feel!

At snack time, we explored different tastes. We tried sweet marshmallows, bitter dark chocolate, salty/spicy sun chips, and sour lemons!

The lemons were very sour!

We practiced writing the letter E and the number 2 this week!

During free choice, we had the option to play with pumpkin pulp and seeds!

We matched lowercase and uppercase letters using pumpkin seeds!
