9/16 Classroom Update

We had a great second week of preschool! Our theme this week was "All About Me" so that we could get to know one another better. During circle time, we shared things that we liked about ourselves, as well as things that we could do all by ourselves. We also discussed how people can be similar and different, and how our differences are what make us special and unique! During circle time, we also learned how to say "Me llamo...." (My name is....) and learned the song "Como te Llamas?" (What's your name?). We also worked on pre-writing strokes and starting our writing strokes at the top. The song "Where Do You Start Your Letters?" was a big hit! Here are some of the great books we read this week:

During center time, we built shapes using lines and curves, examined our fingerprints with magnifying glasses, drew self-portraits, practiced using glue to make name collages, painted ourselves in "handheld mirrors," played in our sand table, drew our families with both crayons and shaving cream, and much more!

Next week, we will be focusing on the story "Chicka Chicka Boom Boom" and other alphabet books. We will begin practicing working on our names, as well as working on letter identification.

10/4 Field Trip: We will be visiting Schwallier's Country Basket to pick apples and pumpkins, as well as pet farm animals on Tuesday, October 4th. The morning class will be leaving promptly at 8:30 pm, and the afternoon class will be leaving promptly at 12:30 pm. If you are interested in joining us, please add your name to the driver's list on our bulletin board outside our classroom and fill out a volunteer form using the link below. If you will be transporting children other than your own, you will need to stop by the office to fill out a self-reporting form and provide proof of your insurance, driver's license, and registration. The field trip costs $5 per child and will be billed to your monthly preschool account. Adults attending can pay their $5 upon arrival at Schwallier's.

Volunteer Form: There will be many opportunities to volunteer in our classroom throughout the year, including attending class field trips. If you are interested in participating in future classroom activities, please fill out the volunteer form here.
