11/17 Classroom Update

This week, we began to learn about the first Thanksgiving and engaged in lots of Thanksgiving themed literacy centers. During center time, we made hand/footprint turkeys that are on display in the hallway, planned our thanksgiving menus, shopped for groceries at our Preschool Market, made pumpkin pie playdough pies, sorted rhyming words and words by beginning sound, and much more. Important Dates/Reminders:

Thanksgiving Break: WECC is closed Wednesday, November 22 through Friday, November 24 for Thanksgiving Break. Classes will resume on Monday, November 27.

Scholastic Book Orders: This week, I sent home Scholastic Book orders in your child's folder. November book orders are due by Thursday, November 30th. You can order books online by completing the steps below. You may also turn in your paper order and payment to me and I will input your order for you.
  1. Go to the Scholastic Reading Club Website here.
  2. Click Connect to your Teacher and enter our class activation code: PJFBX.
  3. Then click to order from this month's flyer. Our default flyer is the "Early Childhood" flyer; however, you may order from any of the flyers. You can view more details about each book and add them to your cart by clicking on them in the flyer. 
  4. After selecting your items, click on the cart to create an account or sign-in to your existing account in order to check-out.  
  5. November orders need to be placed by this coming Thursday, November 30th.
Save the Date: Save the date for our Holiday Sing concert and winter party following the concert on Wednesday, December 20th at 2:30 PM. We can't wait to share with you all the songs we have been working on with Ms. Janet and to celebrate the winter season!

Second Annual Middle School Blood Drive: EGR Middle School is hosting a blood drive on Friday, December 22 from 10 AM-4 PM in the Learning Commons. The goal is to donate 100 pints of blood, and last year the middle school held the largest blood drive for any middle school in the state! If you would like to donate, you can schedule an appointment to donate here.

Winter Break: School will be closed Monday, December 25 through Friday, January 5 for winter break. Classes will resume on Monday, January 8.
