MWF 3's Class:

This week, we learned all about rainbows! We learned the colors and order of colors in a rainbow, why rainbows occur, and how colors can mix to make new colors. On Monday, we built patterns with skittles, practiced writing our names with rainbow pencils, and strengthened our fine motor skills by sorting color beads on a rainbow. During Wednesday centers, we conducted a rainbow paper towel experiment, mixed colors with baking soda and vinegar, and colored rainbows by matching the correct colors in order. We also learned about the letter T and turned our handprints into a turtle for our letter books! Next week, we will continue our rainbow/color exploration, have some St. Patrick's Day fun, and learn about the letter U. Here are some picture highlights from our week in 3's:

PM 5's Class:

This week, we learned all about rainbows and why they occur. We even created a rainbow in our classroom using a prism and a flashlight, and explored density by creating a liquid rainbow! We learned all about primary colors, secondary colors, and how to make new colors by mixing colors. We are also working on learning to read and recognize color words. We learned the order of the colors in the rainbow and matched the color words to them. During centers, we extended rainbow patterns, built simple cvc words, painted rainbow fish, experimented with mixing colors, completed rainbow rhyming puzzles, practiced rainbow addition, and created a rainbow "friend" from the book My Color is Rainbow. This week, we introduced reading simple sight word sentences and had lots of fun reading them to our classmates! We also learned about the letters Y and Z, and created a Yak and a Zebra for our letter books. During music with Ms. Lori, we went in a "time machine" to visit the dinosaurs in prehistoric times. On Monday, we will be celebrating our 100th day of school! All week long, we will be engaging in lots of fun learning activities centered around the number 100, as well as engaging in some St. Patrick's Day fun. We will also be learning about the letter I and distinguishing between vowels and consonants.
