2/19 Classroom Update

2/19 Classroom Update

I hope everyone enjoyed their Winter Breaks - I loved hearing about all the fun things our preschoolers did on their time off school! This week, we continued to talk about friendship and focused our discussions on sharing and taking turns. We met Sally and Joe (puppets) during circle time, and we helped Sally and Joe handle different situations in the classroom where they needed to share or take turns nicely. We also wrote about ways we can be good friends and times that we helped others. Here are some of the great friendship books we read this week:

This week, we also focused on the letter X. We discussed how there are very few words that actually begin with X and brainstormed words with the "X" sound in them. We played Letter X Four in a Row, went on letter X hunts, and practiced writing the letter X. We also made Xylophones to add to our alphabet books.

Next week, we will be focusing on the letter Z and talking about the Zoo. We will build our own zoos with blocks, sort zoo animals vs. non-zoo animals, sing zoo animal songs, measure zoo animals, match animals to their beginning sounds and make Zebras for our alphabet books. I'm looking forward to another great week!
