11/6 Classroom Update

 Important Dates/Reminders:

Kids Food Basket Donation Drive: Every November, we hold a Kid's Food Basket Donation Drive/Fundraiser. Kid's Food Basket is a local non-profit working to combat childhood hunger. This year's drive lasts from November 9 through December 4. Each class will be competing to collect the most of the following items: fruit cups, pudding cups, applesauce cups, and meat sticks. Please bring any donations you may have to class and I will put them in our class donation box. Thank you for supporting such a great organization!

Warm Clothing: As it gets colder, please send your child with warm clothing for outside time each day. Many items look similar, so please label your child's coat, boots, hat, and gloves/mittens. We go outside daily as long as it is not raining and the wind chill is above zero. If there is snow in the forecast or on the ground, please also send your child with snow pants as well.

Thanksgiving Break: WECC will be closed Wednesday, November 25th through Friday, November 27th for Thanksgiving Break.

Winter Break: There will be no preschool classes starting Monday, December 21 through Friday, January 1. School will resume on Monday, January 4th.

T/Th 3's Class:

This week, we really enjoyed the sunshine and warmer temperatures! We learned about the letter G, learned the sign for the letter G, and turned our handprints into giraffes for our letter book portfolios. We also learned how we can use our whole bodies to be good listeners. We use our ears to hear, eyes to look at the speaker, our body is calm/faces the speaker, our hands and feet are still, our brain thinks, and our heart cares! We made "Mon-Star" listeners and played a "Match the Sounds" listening game. We built listening bodies with Mr. Potato Heads, read interactive books about listening, and sorted what whole body listeners do and do not do. We also enjoyed singing and dancing in music class with Ms. Janet on Thursday. Here are some picture highlights from our week in preschool:

PM 5's Class:

This week in 5's, we read several versions of the classic tale The Three Little Pigs. We learned about story elements like characters, setting, problem/solution, and cause/effect. We identified the beginning sounds of words, worked on rhyming, designed our own houses, and tested to see if the "wind" would blow different items. On Tuesday, we learned about presidential elections and read Duck for President and held our own "presidential" election. Duck won in a close race by only one vote! We also enjoyed the beautiful fall weather and got outside to rake some leaves and jump in leaf piles! Here are picture highlights from out week in 5's:

Enjoy the beautiful fall weather this weekend!
