2/19 Classroom Update

Important Dates/Reminders:

Conferences: Due to COVID, this year we will be offering virtual conferences via Google Meet or Zoom next week (the week of February 22nd) for any parents who have questions regarding placement for your child for next school year. Ms. Carly will schedule conferences for ECSE families separately. If you would like to schedule a ten minute conference, please email me at kbillmei@egprs.org with your availability on the following dates and times. I will do my best to try to accommodate everyone's preferred availability, and will email you a confirmation along with a Zoom or Google Meet link to the conference. Here are the dates/times:

  • Monday, February 22nd - 9 -11 am
  • Tuesday, February 23rd - 3 - 4 pm
  • Wednesday. February 24th - 9-11 am
  • Thursday, February 23rd - 3 - 4 pm
  • Friday, February 24th - 12 - 3 pm

2021-22 WECC Enrollment: Enrollment for next year, for current families, will be the week of March 1. Open enrollment for new families will be the week of March 15th. Ms. Jackie sent out an email with specific enrollment information.

Spring Break: There will be no preschool classes Friday, April 2nd through Friday, April 9th for Spring Break. Classes will resume Monday, April 12th.

Kindergarten Registration: The EGRPS website regarding kindergarten registration information has been updated. Intent to enroll forms are now available. The link to the page can be found here. Please let me know if you plan on enrolling your child and would like me to fill out a Preschool Teacher form for you!

Warm Clothing: Please continue to send your child's winter/snow gear in their canvas bag each day. Please double check that their bag contains their snow pants, boots, coat, hat, and mittens. Many items look similar, so please label your child's coat, snow pants, boots, hat, and gloves/mittens. We try to go outside daily as long as it is not raining, the wind chill is above zero, and the playground is not too muddy/icy. If you have a pair of school shoes or hard bottom slippers that you would like to keep at school, let me know and we can keep them at school to avoid having to lug them back and forth each day.

T/Th 3's Class:

This week, we continued to learn about Community Helpers with a focus on Safety Helpers. We talked about the important jobs that lifeguards, fire fighters, police officers, and the military do in our communities. The highlight of our week was playing in our new fire station dramatic play center! We also worked on positional words, created shape firetrucks, and acted out a fireman rhyme while strengthening our fine motor muscles. We also learned about the letter Q and turned our handprints into a Queen! Here are some picture highlights of our weeks in 3's:

PM 5's Class:

This week, we began our two week unit on transportation. We learned about different types of transportation on land, sea and in the air. We also learned about the forces of push and pull, and how we use them in our everyday lives. A push is a force that moves something away from our bodies, while a pull moves something towards our body. During center time, we created patterned name trains, worked on identifying beginning sounds, practiced writing numbers, designed our own dream cars, and practiced identifying our birthdays when creating driver's licenses. This week, we learned about the letter N, learned the sign for the letter N and continued our handwriting practice. We also had lots of fun playing in the new fire station dramatic play center! Here are some picture highlights in 5's:

Have a great weekend!
