MWF 3's Class

This week, we focused on valentine's day and learned about the postal service. We especially enjoyed playing in our classroom post office dramatic play center and mailing valentines to our friends! During circle time, we discussed Valentine's Day and ways we can show love to our family and friends. During center time, we finger painted heart valentines for loved ones, read about things kind friends do, sorted candy hearts by color and practiced counting candy hearts. We enjoyed learning about forte (loud) and piano (quiet) with Ms. Janet, and we practiced playing both the sticks and sand blocks forte and piano. We also learned about the letter Q and turned our handprints into a Queen for our letter books. Next week, we will review safety helpers, learn about food helpers, and focus on the letter R. Here are some picture highlights from our week in 3's preschool:

PM 5's Class:

This week, we discussed Valentine's Day and reviewed qualities good friend. We discussed how friends do not always agree and that problems can arise, but that friends can resolve problems kindly. We also talked about the importance of using cotton ball/kind words with others instead of sandpaper/unkind words. We learned about the letter N this week and turned the letter N into a nest for our letter books. During center time, we painted special valentine canvases for loved ones, practiced writing valentine's day words, created valentine's day items out of play dough and pattern blocks, and did some free painting. We also worked on decoding  short cvc (consonant vowel consonant) words and sorting them based on whether or not they were real or nonsense words. We also practiced sharing materials and working as a team to put numbers in order and practiced skip counting by 5's. During free choice, we had lots of fun making valentines for friends and sending them in our classroom post office. We also enjoyed playing beats on drums and playing with the parachute during music with Ms. Janet. Next week, we will continue our exploration of different modes of transportation and learn about the letter V. Here are some picture highlights from 5's:

Have a wonderful President's Day weekend!
