10/16 Classroom Update

  Important Dates/Reminders:

Class Directory Form: I am working on setting up a class directory for each class so that parents may contact each other to plan playdates, coordinate carpools, etc. Last week, I sent home a directory permission form in your child's folder. Please return the permission form to school at your earliest convenience so that I can get that out to everyone!

School Pictures: This week, I sent home the slip to access your child's photo proofs online in your child's folder. There will not be paper proofs this year so be sure to hold onto it to order pictures! Picture retakes and make-ups will be held on Wednesday, November 4th.

Spirit Week: Next week, we will be hosting a Spirit Week at WECC! Here are the themes for each day:

  • Monday 10/19: PJ Day! Wear your comfiest pajamas to school!
  • Tuesday 10/20: Crazy Hair/Hat Day
  • Wednesday 10/21: Favorite Sports/College Team
  • Thursday 10/22: Rainbow Day! Try to wear as many colors as you can!
  • Friday 10/23: East Colors/East Gear Day - Wear your blue and gold!

Halloween: Information on Halloween will be sent home from Mrs. Jackie as soon as possible. We are working together to plan a safe and fun Halloween experience for all of the Woodcliff kids. In the meantime, plan on your child wearing their costume to class on Thursday, October 29. And of course, they can choose to wear normal clothes that day too.

Thanksgiving Break: WECC will be closed Wednesday, November 25th through Friday, November 27th for Thanksgiving Break.

Winter Break: There will be no preschool classes starting Monday, December 21 through Friday, January 1. School will resume on Monday, January 4th.

T/Th 3's Class:

This week, we've focused on what it means to be kind and a good friend! We discussed the importance of kindness and sorted behaviors that are kind versus unkind. We also learned about cotton ball and sandpaper words. Cotton ball words are kind words that feel good (ex. thank you, compliments, please, encouraging others, using a nice tone of voice, etc), while sandpaper words feel hurtful and can "scratch our feelings" (ex. mean words, a mean voice, calling names, yelling). We read The Rainbow Fish and worked on different strategies for sharing (i.e. how to ask to play with something, taking turns, playing together, setting timers, etc.)! Next week, we will continue to learn about friendship and feelings, as well as learn about pumpkins! Here are some picture highlights from our week in 3's:

PM 5's Class:

This week in 5's, we learned all about pumpkins and the letter E. We learned about the life cycle of a pumpkin, what pumpkins can be used for, and explore the inside of a pumpkin. Many of us thought it was great fun to touch the slimy pumpkin pulp! We also reviewed building and drawing Mat Man, worked on matching upper and lowercase letters, and solved rhyming riddles. We also enjoyed making pumpkin pies and jack-o-lanterns using our own, individual pumpkin pie playdoughs! Next week, we will learn about our 5 senses and engage in several scientific explorations! Have a great weekend!
