10/23 Classroom Update

  Important Dates/Reminders:

Halloween Parade: We will be holding an outdoor Halloween Parade on Thursday, October 29th (weather permitting) on the field next to the WECC parking lot. We ask that families line up around the perimeter of the field, wear masks and social distance during the parade. The morning parade will be held at 11:00 am with dismissal from classroom exterior doors at the end of the parade. The afternoon parade will be held at 2:45 pm with dismissal from classroom exterior doors at the end of the parade. You may send your child to school dressed in their costume for the day or send their costume in if you prefer to have them change ahead of the parade. Your child also does not have to dress up if they prefer. This year, we will be engaging in Halloween learning fun all week in class to celebrate in lieu of a party.

Class Directory Form: I am still waiting on a few class directory permission forms so that I can finalize a class directory for each class. The directory will allow parents to contact each other to plan playdates, coordinate carpools, etc. I will send home another permission slip form this week with families that I still need them from. Please return the permission form to school at your earliest convenience so that I can finalize the directories and get them out to everyone. Thank you!

Picture Retakes: Picture retakes and make-ups will be held on Wednesday, November 4th. Please let me know if you would like to have your child's picture retaken. If your child does not attend WECC on Wednesdays and you would like a retake, you can bring them to the front office between 9:00-9:30 am on November 4th to have their picture retaken.

Thanksgiving Break: WECC will be closed Wednesday, November 25th through Friday, November 27th for Thanksgiving Break.

Winter Break: There will be no preschool classes starting Monday, December 21 through Friday, January 1. School will resume on Monday, January 4th.

T/Th 3's Class:

This week, we learned about pumpkins! We explored a pumpkin using our senses, measured pumpkins, and learned about how they grow. We continued our discussion about emotions during circle time and center time, as well as sang a pumpkin emotions song. We've also been practicing the classic 5 Little Pumpkins song for Halloween! You can sing along to the 5 Little Pumpkins song here. During center time, we also matched pumpkin shapes, made our letter E letter book page, created a Spookley inspired square pumpkin, painted pumpkins, and played with pumpkin pie playdough. We also enjoyed a visit from Ms. Janet where we got to sing special Halloween songs! Here are some picture highlights from the week:

PM 5's Class:

This week in 5's, we explored our five senses. We discussed the many ways we use our five senses to learn about our world, be aware, and to be safe. During center time, we explored with microscopes, kaleidoscopes, prisms, and magnifying glasses to see how we use our eyes to see shapes, sizes, colors, brightness, etc. We also used our sense of smell to play a smelling guessing game, and our sense of hearing as well as a sound matching game. We taste tested different types of apples to determine our favorite, and played a guess the classroom item game using only our sense of touch. Here are some picture highlights of our week in 5's:

Have a great weekend!
