10/2 Classroom Update

Important Dates/Reminders:

Class Directory Form: I am working on setting up a class directory for each class so that parents may contact each other to plan playdates, coordinate carpools, etc. On Thursday, I sent home a directory permission form in your child's folder. Please return the permission form to school at your earliest convenience.

Picture Day: Picture Day will be Monday, October 12th for the 5's class and Tuesday, October 13th for the 3's class. Picture retakes will be held on Wednesday, November 4th.

Thanksgiving Break: WECC will be closed Wednesday, November 25th through Friday, November 27th for Thanksgiving Break.

T/Th 3's Class:

This week, we read the book Chicka Chicka Boom Boom and learned about the letter B! We learned how to build, write, sign, make the letter B sound, and identified words that begin with B. We also started our letter books which we will be working on all year. Once we have learned about all the letters, we will bind all our letter book pages together to make a special preschool keepsake book to read at home. We practiced using scissors by making cuts into the palm leaves of coconut trees, then we worked on identifying the letters in our name by stamping our names on a coconut tree. We played a fun Chicka Chicka Boom Boom letter and letter sound recognition game, as well as did a letter scavenger hunt in the hallway! Here are some picture highlights from our week in 3's:

Next week, we will learn about feelings and the letter C - as well as meet the Magic C Bunny!

PM 5's Class:

This week, we learned about fall and the letter L, as well as reviewed Spanish greetings. We learned about signs of fall and changes that occur in the fall. We enjoyed a fall scavenger hunt outside, made leaf rubbings, played in a fall harvest sensory tub, and painted fall trees. We also learned that fall and autumn are synonyms, then worked on identifying other words that are synonyms. We have been focusing on recognizing the sight words "I see" and reading a book that follows a pattern. You can practice with the mini-books "I See Fall" at home! This week, we began working on our letter books. Each week, we will add a new page to put together a preschool portfolio for the year! With all of the rainy weather this week, we also had lots of fun dancing and getting our wiggles out! Here are some picture highlights from the week:

Next week, we will learn about apples, the life cycle of an apple tree, and the letter F.

Have a great weekend!
