3/11 Classroom Update

Important Dates/Reminders:

2022-23 Preschool/Childcare Registration: WECC Preschool and Childcare registration is now open! Priority will be given to current families who register before Friday, March 18th. Please see the registration brochure for offerings and registration instructions. Please let me know if you have any questions about placement for next year!

Kindergarten Registration: The EGRPS website regarding kindergarten registration information has been updated. Intent to enroll forms are now available. The link to the page can be found here. Please let me know if you plan on enrolling your child and would like me to fill out a Preschool Teacher form for you!

Spring Break: There will be no preschool classes Friday, April 1st through Friday, April 8th for Spring Break. Childcare will be available the week of April 4th for families enrolled in the childcare program.

Memorial Day: WECC is closed on Monday, May 30th for Memorial Day. There are no preschool classes or childcare that day.

MWF 3's Class:

This week, we learned all about rainbows! We learned the colors of rainbow, why rainbows occur, and how colors can mix to make new colors. On Monday, we built patterns with skittles, practiced writing our names, and strengthened our little muscles in our hands sorting color beads on a rainbow. During Wednesday centers, we experimented with mixing colors at the light table, conducted a rainbow paper towel experiment, mixed colors with baking soda and vinegar, and strengthened our little muscles in our hands sorting color beads on a rainbow. We also learned about the letter T and turned our handprints into a T for our letter books! On Friday, we created a created a liquid rainbow, made rainbow bracelets, and sorted rainbow beads by color onto rainbows. We also read the story of the patchwork elephant Elmer and also sponge painted our own colorful "Elmer." Next week, we will continue our rainbow/color exploration, have some St. Patrick's Day fun, and learn about the letter U. PM 5's Class:

This week, we learned all about rainbows and why the occur. We even created a rainbow in our classroom using a prism and a flashlight, as well as made a liquid rainbow! We learned all about primary colors, secondary colors, and how to make new colors by mixing colors. We are also working on learning to read and recognize color words. We learned the order of the colors in the rainbow and matched the color words to them. During centers, we extended rainbow patterns, painted rainbow fish, experimented with mixing colors, practiced rainbow addition, and played a color word/number recognition dice game. We also learned about the letters Y and Z, and created a Yak and a Zebra for our letter books. On Thursday of next week, we will be celebrating our 100th day of school! All week long, we will be engaging in lots of fun learning activities centered around the number 100. We will also be learning about the letter I and distinguishing between vowels and consonants.
