MWF 3's Class:

This week, we began our exploration of plants and flowers! We learned that plants are living things that need water, air, space, food, and sometimes soil to live. We also learned about the parts of a flower and did an experiment to see what would happen if we placed flowers in colored water. We were amazed to see that the petals started to turn different colors! During center time, we practiced counting while adding beads to flowers, painted with flowers, labeled the parts of a flower, and played in our mulch/gardening sensory bin. We also learned about the letter W and turned our handprints into whales for our letter books! When we return from spring break, we will continue to learn about flowers and learn about the letter Y. PM 5's Class:

This week, we learned about many of the important community helpers and the jobs they do within a community! We specifically learned about safety helpers, school helpers, transportation helpers, food helpers, health helpers, and builders and fixers. We explored the important roles they play in our community, as well as learned about some of the tools they need to do their jobs. During center time, we enjoyed building communities with the construction trucks, trying on different community helper jobs, reading about community helpers, matching community helpers to their tools, and playing  in the fire truck and fire station. We worked on strengthening our fine motor skills by doing some push pin letter writing, and we stamped the beginning sounds to -ad word family words. We focused on the -ad word family, completed an -ad word hunt in the classroom and sorted words in the -at and -ad word families. We also used liquid watercolor paints to paint the covers to our letter books! When we return from spring break, we will focus on the season of spring and the -an word family! Have a wonderful and safe spring break!
