MWF 3's Class:

This week, we continued our exploration of rainbows and had lots of fun learning about and celebrating St. Patrick's Day! We learned about some symbols of St. Patrick's Day, strengthened our fine motor muscles by putting shamrock stickers on our "lucky letter," sang a song about the color green, and planned what we would do with a pot of gold if we caught a leprechaun! We also built rainbow models and created shamrock suncatchers. The shamrocks are currently on display in our classroom windows for our school community to enjoy! During center time, we worked on number recognition by building shamrock towers and playing a roll and cover dice game. We also learned about the letter U this week and turned our handprints into umbrellas. Next week, we will learn about the letter V and begin talking about Spring! PM 5's Class:

This week, we celebrated our 100th day of preschool and St. Patrick's Day! We reflected on how we have learned and grown so far in the last 100 days of school. We worked on counting to 100 by singing counting songs, counting out 100 pieces of snack to make a special snack mix, playing a Roll to 100 math game, and stringing necklaces with 100 beads (some of us ran out of time to put on all the beads because 100 is a lot!). We had fun imagining what we will look like when we're 100 years old and answering questions about the number 100. We also completed STEM challenges to see what we could build with 100 legos, 100 blocks, 100 snap cubes and 100 cups and index cards. We also learned about many of the symbols of St Patrick's Day, discussed how people celebrate, and read lots of fun leprechaun stories. On Thursday, we were shocked to find leprechaun tracks all through our classroom and gold left behind! We also learned about the letter I, discussed what makes a vowel, and practiced sorting vowels and consonants. We got a big kick out of singing "Apples and Bananas" and changing the vowel sounds in words. Next week, we will learn about what makes a community and different types of communities. We have now finished focusing on each of the letters and will begin learning about word families next week! Have a great weekend!
